The Guiyang Pumped Storage Power Station is located in Gubao Town, Xiuwen County, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. It has a total installed capacity of 1.5 million kilowatts (1500MW) and is equipped with 4 sets of 375000 kilowatt reversible water pump turbine generators. It is the first pumped storage power station in Guizhou Province to be approved and put into operation, with a total investment of approximately 9.25 billion yuan; The upper reservoir utilizes the sixth level reservoir area of the Maotiao River in the Wujiang River, while the lower reservoir relies on the existing Hongyan Hydropower Station reservoir area. The first unit is planned to be connected to the grid for power generation by the end of 2028, and the entire station will be put into operation by the end of 2029. The owner unit is Guiyang Pumped Storage Power Generation Co., Ltd. of Guangdong Energy Group. Guiyang Institute is responsible for the design.
